Soshi Uchida, MD, PhD

Dr Soshi Uchida MD is a nationally and internationally renowned orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon who has been practicing his passion, orthopaedic surgery, for the last two decades. He specializes in hip arthroscopy, treatment of Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), Developmental Dysplasia of the hips (DDH), ACL and/or PCL reconstruction, elbow arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy and ankle arthroscopy. ​​The principles of sports medicine emphasize a comprehensive team approach in the conservative treatment of injuries with the goal of helping the patient return to a healthy state, and focuses on the prevention of new or recurrent injuries. When surgery is necessary, Dr. Uchida's specialty in arthroscopic techniques, especially hip arthroscopy, emphasizes less invasive surgery for a potentially easier and quicker recovery. These principles, initially developed for the competitive athlete, apply to all injuries whether they occur in the recreational environment, work place, or at home. ​​He has actually performed 2000 hip arthroscopies for the past 10 years.



Yutaka Inaba, MD, PhD

Dr. Yutaka Inaba is affiliated to Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yokohama University, where he is currently working as Professor. Dr. Inaba has authored and co-authored several national and international publications and also works as a reviewer for reputed professional journals. Dr. Inaba has an active association with different societies and academies around the world. He has made his mark in the scientific community with contributions and wide recognition from honourable subject experts around the world. Dr. Inaba has received several awards for the contributions to the scientific community. His major research interest involves Orthopaedic Surgery.



Naomi Kobayashi, MD, PhD

Present position: Associated professor, Director of department of Orthopaedic surgery, Yokohama City University Medical Center. 2010-2019: Lecture, Yokohama City University. 2006-2010: Assistant professor, Yokohama City University. 2003-2006: Research fellow in Cleveland Clinic Foundation. 1999-2003: Postgraduate school of medicine, Yokohama City University. 1997-1999: Clinical resident in Fujisawa City Hospital. 1991-1997: Yamagata University, school of medicine.



Olufemi Ayeni, MD, PhD, FRCSC

ISHA 2025 Scientific Programme Chair

Dr. Ayeni is a Professor and the Academic Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University. He is currently the medical director for the Hamilton Tiger Cats (Canadian Football League) and Forge FC (Canadian Premier League) and previously served as the assistant team physician for the New Jersey Nets (National Basketball Association). ​He has published over 300 academic publications in sports medicine as well as several textbooks focused on sports medicine/research. His research addressing sports medicine related injuries has been funded by major organizations (CIHR, AANA, AOSSM). ​He is considered a leading authority on hip injuries and conditions in the young adult as this is a substantial portion of his clinical practice. He has spoken widely across the globe on evidence based approaches to evaluate and treat hip related syndromes and other conditions.



John Christoforetti, MD, FRCSC

ISHA President 2024/2025

John Christoforetti is an internationally recognized thought leader in the field of hip arthroscopy and sports medicine. In 2019 he joined the leadership team at Texas Health Sports Medicine and relocated his practice from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the DFW Metroplex. He treats active adolescent and adult patients who suffer injuries in their hip, shoulder or knees with evidence-based, patient-centered philosophy. He has performed over 3000 arthroscopic procedures and his results have been presented and published in peer-reviewed forums internationally. He has authored book chapters, original research, and been featured in national media as commentator on sports medicine.He currently serves as a team physician for FC Dallas, Major League Soccer Club, Master Instructor of Hip Arthroscopy for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Board of Directors Member, ISHA - The Hip Preservation Society, Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Arthroscopic Surgery, Founding Member of the MASH study Group, and Faculty-at-Large for the American Hip Institute. Dr Christoforetti is a member of the American Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy and the American Academy of Surgeons. He is a master instructor of hip arthroscopy at the Learning Center in Chicago, Illinois and a faculty member for the American Hip Institute also based in Chicago. He reviews original research for publication in the areas of arthroscopic surgery of the hip and surgery of the shoulder for all major journals.
